It is a shame that many Christians or professed Christians can't really answer this question, they only claim or bear the name "Christians" without really knowing what makes them Christians.
Well, if you're one of those who don't really know what makes you a Christian you don't have to panic, this article is for you.

First of all we have to examine the word Christians

Who Are Christians?
Christians are people or individuals who are firstly redeemed by the saving blood of Jesus and posses the lifestyle/nature of Jesus Christ the savior.Christians are also people or individuals who have shares in the kingdom of God. They are people who shall rise again with Christ at the last day.
The Word Christians was first given to the apostles in Antioch, the below scripture confirms so;
Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
From the above passage we have seen where the word Christians was derived from, now let's proceed to the topic.
What Makes You A Christian
Well they have been much controversies and different opinions of many people regarding this very topic. But, in this post we will be enlightening you based on what the bible says regarding What makes us Christians since the Word of God is the final Authority. Let's examine the book of John 3:3
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The above scripture talks about a man called Nicodemus, He went to Jesus to ask concerning the kingdom.
Jesus responded him and said "except a man be born again He cannot see the kingdom of God".
If you read closely you'll discover that only Christians can see the kingdom of God, the below scripture confirms thus;
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.
So Jesus was indirectly telling Nicodemus How to become a Christian
The requirements Jesus gave to Nicodemus was to become Born Again.
Having been born again the Spirit of the Lord enters you and confirms your salvation as a Christian, the below scripture affirms thus;
Ephesians 1:13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,-- in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
Conclusion
Christ in you is what makes you a Christian, many individuals thinks that going to church or carrying the bible around is what makes them Christians but that's wrong.2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
